Ezra Miller on his way out of DCEU after release of $200 million ‘The Flash’: Report – Times of India

Following a string of controversies, the actor is reportedly on his way out of the multi-million dollar superhero franchise ‘The Flash’. The actor, who first appeared as the superhero in ‘Justice League’ and again in Zack Snyder’s Justice League, was set to spearhead the solo film on his character – Flash aka Barry Allen.

Besides the film facing a number of hurdles due to various delays in delays in production, Miller has been at the centre of one controversy after another over the past few months. His arrests early this year and subsequent taunts to the police while remaining untraceable cast dark clouds over his future in the DCEU.

A source told Deadline, “There is no winning in this for Warner Bros.This is an inherited problem for [CEO David] Zaslav.

According to the report, Zaslav currently has three options, ie, to pull back on heavily promoting the summer 2023 film or relegate it to streaming with HBO Max or even lean in toward making the movie a hit and then write off the actor from the story and have another star step in to play the part.

Warner Bros famously axed Johnny Depp from the Grindelwald character in the ‘Fantastic Beasts’ franchise, after the actor’s UK lawsuit with Amber Heard. Depp was replaced with Mads Mikkelsen.

However, all is not lost. “The hope is that the scandal will remain at a low level before the movie is released, and hope for the best to turn out,” the report quoted a source.

‘The Flash’ which is currently set to release on June 23, 2023, will see Ben Affleck return as The Batman in what is believed to be his final turn as the character. The film will also see Michael Keaton return to the big screen as Batman 31 years after his last appearance in Batman Returns.
