Speaking after the game, Redknapp said: ‘Graeme [Souness] said before the game, when you’ve got a player like Harry Kane you’ve always got a chance and that came to fruition there.

‘He was incredible. Not just his goals but his all-round play. He brought people into play, his touch was exquisite.

‘It was a masterclass second-half. His second goal is as good as it gets. The touch and the finish were sublime. Just an incredible player.’

Spurs were stuck in a deadlock with their London rivals until Kane opened the scoring early in the second-half. He got on the end of an Ivan Perisic cross to convert at the far-post.

He got his second goal of the game shortly after, when he collected a pass from Bryan Gil and quickly dispatched his effort into the bottom corner.

The England captain’s brace helped kick-start the rout for Tottenham which was completed after goals from Matt Doherty and Son Heung-Min.

It helped Tottenham to their first victory since returning from the World Cup break having drawn to Brentford and lost to Aston Villa in their previous two matches.

After the game, Tottenham boss Antonio Conte labelled his star striker as ‘world class’ and claimed Kane can ‘beat every record’.

Kane himself claimed that the 4-0 win was an ‘important moment’ in his side’s season as they look to maintain a push for the top four.
