Explained! Why was the Aryan Khan bail order reserved till October 20 by the court? – Times of India

A Mumbai sessions court was hearing the bail plea of Aryan Khan, Arbaaz Merchant, Munmun Dhamecha and other accused in the drugs case today. After many arguments presented by the Narcotics Control Bureau’s (NCB) counsels Additional Solicitor General (ASG) Anil C Singh and Special Public Prosecutor (SPP) Advait Sethna, and Aryan Khan’s lawyer Amit Desai concluded, the court decided to reserve its order till October 20. Many people were expecting the court to give its final order today, with some hoping that Aryan Khan would make bail, while others feeling that his bail plea could be rejected. But, the court decided to give its final order 6 days later, on October 20.

Lawyers of both NCB and the accused revealed in press briefings after the court hearing, that all sets of lawyers have submitted multiple judgment copies to the court, which the judge will have to study before giving an order. Therefore the judge will need time to study all documents and pass the final order on the bail plea. Lawyer Advait Tamhankar, associate of Taraq Sayed who is representing Arbaaz Merchant in the case said, “Advocate Amit Desai argued that this case is not related to any conspiracy but it’s about an independent recovery. Now the Court decided to reserve this order for October 20. Amit Desai, ASG Anil C Singh and all other lawyers present in court have submitted multiple judgment copies to court to support our claims. The Hon’ble judge will have to read those judgments before passing his order, which is why he will require that much time.”

Similar information was given by Ali Kashif Khan, Munmun Dhamecha’s lawyer. He said, “After all lawyers present in court presented their arguments, everyone made multiple submissions to the Court. The Court will read all these submission documents before arriving at it’s final order. Let’s hope that we get a positive result on October 20.”

Aryan Khan, Arbaaz Merchant, Munmun Dhamecha and dozens of others were detained and arrested by the NCB after a raid was conducted at Mumbai’s cruise ship terminal and a cruise ship that was heading to Goa. After being detained on October 2, all accused were arrested on various charges under the NDPS Act by the NCB later on.

Now all eyes will be on the Mumbai sessions court and it’s order that is due to arrive on October 20. Until then, Aryan Khan and other accused will be lodged in Arthur Road jail in Mumbai.
