(Exclusive picture) Take a look at Saiyami Kher and Abhishek Bachchan in R Balki’s upcoming film Ghoomer – Times of India

This will be the second time Abhishek and Saiyami will share screen space; the two were earlier seen in the second season of the web series Breathe 2. While Saiyami had to prep hard for her role, it helped that the actress knew the sport well as she had played cricket at the school level for Maharashtra. She even made it to the national team selection, but opted to compete in badminton state championships.

Saiyami told Bombay Times, “While growing up, sports was my first love. I had always thought I would become a sportsperson or have something to do with sports. But then, I was bitten by the acting bug. I love being in front of the camera and living different lives with every new project. However, I never stopped thinking about what could have been. What my life would be had I chosen cricket as a career? I have often dreamt of the day when I could play a cricketer on screen and it’s finally happening now. This has been a dream come true, and I don’t want the journey to end… I just want to play some more.”

Balki shares, “A movie like ours needed someone from an authentic background. So, to find someone like Saiyami, who is both a good actor and a sportsperson, is a rarity because a true sports person cannot be replaced even if it’s in a movie.” Besides Saiyami and Abhishek, the film also features Shabana Azmi in a pivotal role.
