Exclusive! Ayushmann Khurrana: I am overwhelmed with the response we’ve got for the trailer of Doctor G – Times of India

There has been a lot of anticipation around Junglee Pictures’ medical college campus comedy,
Doctor G, right from the time it was announced. On Tuesday, when the trailer dropped, it instantly won over the audience’s hearts. The unique concept of the film – which revolves around the life of Doctor Uday Gupta, played by Ayushmann Khurrana, who unwillingly lands up being the only male student in the gynaecology department of a medical college – is what piqued the audience’s interest the most. In the midst of films that are high on drama and action, Junglee Pictures, known for bringing clutter-breaking concepts to the audience, is gearing up to present Doctor G, which has an out-of-the-box story with an underlying social message. The story is told with a lot of humour, but it doesn’t ever fall into the slapstick comedy trap. The film also stars Rakul Preet Singh, Shefali Shah and Sheeba Chadha in pivotal roles.

Excited about the response to the trailer, Ayushmann says, “I am overwhelmed and humbled by the response that we have got for the trailer. It has been heartwarming to receive so much love, appreciation and positive reactions from audiences. Doctor G has a specific theme which I hope the audience enjoys. The film is humorous and my character, Uday, has a beautiful journey. I have had an amazing experience essaying this character, and I also enjoyed collaborating with Anubhuti and Junglee Pictures for the third time after
Bareilly Ki Barfi and
Badhaai Ho. This experience is definitely special.”

The trailer also won a lot of applause from the film fraternity. Among those who took to social media to express their excitement to watch the film was Arjun Kapoor, who wrote, “@ayushmannk and @rakulpreet all set to don their white coats and diagnose us with unlimited entertainment!
Doctor G looks so promising (sic).” Bhumi Pednekar said, “This looks insane guys… Ak is back with what he does best… What a cast (sic),” while Ramesh Taurani said, “This is super entertaining, looking forward to watching it. The trailer crossed over 35 million views in 24 hours across platforms. The growing excitement among movie buffs is also palpable by their comments on the trailer. “Doctor
Saab delivery
ka besabri se intezaar hain (sic),” wrote one netizen, while another said, “This is gonna be the film of the year (sic).”
