Everything Everywhere all at Once wins top honours for Original Screenplay at Writers Guild Awards – Times of India

Last night, the Writers Guild Awards (WGA) were given out in ceremonies held simultaneously in Los Angeles and New York. The awards are given out every year to honour outstanding writing in film, television, media, news, radio and other promotional categories. As expected, the top award for Original Screenplay for 2022 was bagged by Everything Everywhere All At Once written by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert. The nominees for this category also included The Fabelmans scripted by Steven Spielberg and Tony Kushner, besides screenplays for The Menu, Nope and Tar.
The award for the Best Adapted Screenplay went to Women Talking and for the Documentary Screenplay category to Moonage Daydream. The Best Limited Series Award went to The White Lotus, while the Best Episodic Drama Award went to Better Call Saul. Hacks was adjudged the winner for Episodic Comedy.
The Drama Series Award was picked up by Severance, a show on Apple TV and Best Comedy series went to The Bear.

In his acceptance speech for winning the award for Everything Everywhere All At Once, Daniel Scheinert admitted that writing is hard and said that he and his co-writer Daniel Kwan “felt so lost so often”. On his part, Kwan thanked the gathering adding that the WGA were like a “shining beacon” for the industry. “This award is for all of you guys, thank you so much for being so inspiring. Let’s go give them hell,” he concluded.
