Everton looking at a bid for Almeria’s El Bilal Toure – who can run as fast as an iguana! – as they aim to finally strengthen their striker options amid Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s fitness issues
- Calvert-Lewin was substituted at half time at the weekend with another issue
- Sean Dyche has had limited options as back-up for the England forward
- A potential bid may depend on what league the Toffees are playing in next year
Everton’s search for a striker has led them to Almeria’s El Bilal Toure.
The Mali international has missed the end of the season after tearing a thigh muscle which Almeria’s doctor said occurred when he set off to sprint at 35km/h – as fast as a spinytail iguana.
Everton have been assured the 21-year-old can make an equally swift recovery but fans will be wary.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin was taken off as a precaution against Manchester City on Sunday and without him Everton have carried little or no threat up front leaving them perilously close to the drop.
Toure has also had interest from Brentford who are weighing up options as they fear a lengthy ban for Ivan Toney.
Everton are looking at a bid for Almeria’s El Bilal Toure in the summer transfer window
The club are looking for more depth up front as Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s injury issues continue
Sean Dyche has struggled for options when Calvert-Lewin has been missing for his side
It’s unclear how much Toure would cost Everton at this stage, and whether the Toffees decide to make a move or not will depend on what league they are in next season as they continue to fight relegation.
When Calvert-Lewin has been absent, Sean Dyche has had to rely on the ineffective Neal Maupay or the inexperienced Ellis Simms, leaving him crying out for more depth up top.
The club’s owners continue to face criticism from the fanbase as they call for a sale, but one way to win the fans over would be to spend in the transfer window.
Toure has scored six goals in 20 games for Almeira since joining from Reims – where he netted nine times in 66 appearances – in the summer.
