Everton’: Fans go wild at the thought of Frank Lampard and Jurgen Klopp’s touchline reunion
Football fans are reminiscing of former Chelsea boss Frank Lampard’s touchline spat with Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp as he closes in on the Everton boss position.
Tension is always expected to be fraught between the managers of bitter Merseyside rivals Liverpool and Everton but leading candidate for the vacancy at Goodison, Lampard, already has a history with the Reds boss.
Lampard is waiting to be formally offered the opportunity to manage Everton as the club’s chaotic managerial search draws to a close.

Lampard is set to win the race to succeed Rafa Benitez as the new Everton manager
As Sportsmail reported on Wednesday, Lampard had emerged as a lead contender for the post after the Toffees rode back on their plan to appoint Portuguese coach Vitor Pereira after supporters reacted with fury.
And the former Chelsea boss may have already endeared himself to the Goodison faithful after he lost his cool at Klopp and the Liverpool bench in 2020.
In July 2020, Liverpool beat Chelsea in a 5-3 thriller at Anfield before the Reds collected their first Premier League trophy after a Covid-prolonged season.
The west Londoners were already feeling the pressure after Naby Keita put the home side ahead, when a soft foul was given on the edge of the Chelsea area before the break.
The Blues boss immediately began to boil over at the referee’s decision and the clip shows him gesturing to the fourth official before launching into a heated, foul-mouthed rant.
Lampard was critical of the behaviour of some of Liverpool’s backroom staff after the foul
‘How is that a foul? There’s no foul there,’ Lampard appeared to shout, taking steps towards Liverpool boss Klopp before the fourth official intervened.
Lampard then turned his attention to Liverpool’s No.2 Pep Lijnders and barked: ‘Sit down then.’
Klopp could then be heard saying: ‘It’s not your job, it’s mine to ask him to sit down.’
‘If he’s going off at me I’ll f****** say something,’ Lampard appeared to reply sharply to Klopp, while pointing an outstretched arm towards the seated Lijnders.
‘It’s not a f****** foul, I’m not asking you!’ barked Lampard, before Klopp could finally be seen to lose his own temper and scream a high-pitched ‘hey’ back at the Chelsea man.
Jurgen Klopp repeatedly asked Lampard to calm down as the Chelsea boss flew off the handle
‘You can f*** off and all,’ Lampard appeared to say, with the adrenaline pumping.
He then completely lost his rag and had a dig at the Reds lack of title success, saying: ‘Only league title you’ve ever won and you’re f****** giving it the big one, f*** off.’
With Lampard set to take charge in the Goodison dugout, football fans have already taken to social media to express their excitement at his and Klopp’s future touchline reunion.
‘Klopp vs Lampard in the Merseyside derby is going to be brilliant,’ claimed one fan.
One supporter, alongside a GIF of Michael Jackson eating popcorn, simply wrote: ‘Lampard vs Klopp in the Merseyside Derby.’
Fans could not hide their excitement at the prospect of the two managers reuniting in the Merseyside Derby
Another insisted Lampard was the perfect candidate for the Everton job, as they also hinted that the appointment would reignite the classic Lampard vs Steven Gerrard debate.
‘Lampard really hates Klopp and LFC,’ they wrote. ‘Will fit in very well at Everton. Gerrard vs Lampard back on!’
Another supporter echoed those beliefs as they posted: ‘Everton is such a good match for Lampard right now, praying he does well and smacks Klopp silly in the derby.’
A few Liverpool fans got in on the action as they joked Lampard was only taking the job to get back at Klopp.
Many felt Lampard was the perfect candidate for the Everton job because of his history with Klopp
‘Frank Lampard only wants to manage Everton to further his beef with Klopp lmaoo,’ one wrote.
While Liverpool fan account, Anfield Edition, took a dig at the Toffee’s 27-year trophy drought.
‘Frank Lampard is set to be announced as Everton’s manager,’ they wrote.
Liverpool fans also could not resist getting in on the action, taking a dig at the ex-Chelsea boss
‘Their fans will be delighted to know he is a former winner of the “told Klopp to f*** off” trophy.
‘They’ll be hoping he adds another to the collection while at Goodison to end their 27-year wait for silverware.’
If Lampard brings that much passion to a Merseyside derby as Everton boss, he is sure to become a fan favourite.
