Experience uncapped English all-rounder Eve Jones has signed with Melbourne Renegades for the upcoming BBL season.

Jones, 29, has not played international cricket but is coming off an outstanding English domestic season. She was the leading runscorer in the T20 Charlotte Edwards Cup for Central Sparks, scoring 276 runs at 55.20 with three half-centuries in six innings. She’s the second-leading scoring in the 50-over Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy including an unbeaten century and was fourth on the runs tally for the Birmingham Pheonix in the women’s Hundred.

The left-hander was excited to get an opportunity in the WBBL.

“I’m absolutely delighted to be playing for the Renegades,” Jones said.

“Playing in the WBBL is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time and I’m really excited to have that opportunity.

“I’ve watched the Big Bash on the TV for a number of years now. It looks like a fantastic competition – it’s a big stage, there’s world-class players and there’s so much support behind it.”

New Renegades WBBL coach Simon Helmot believes Jones could be more than handy with the ball as well.

“She adds to the strength of our batting group, provides a left-arm bowling option, and brings leadership experience,” Helmot said.

“Eve has had an exceptional domestic summer in the UK, where she has performed consistently and compiled an enormous amount of runs.”
