Eupheus Learning acquires ClassKlap for $19 million

Delhi-based business-to-business edtech company Eupheus Learning announced on Tuesday that it has acquired ClassKlap for $19 million (Rs 139 crore) in an all-stock deal.

“With this, Eupheus Learning will become the largest schools focused edtech company in India and will be the only company in the K-12 space to operate in the premium as well as the affordable schools space,” said the company.

Eupheus Learning has been focused on premium schools, and it has a distribution reach of 13,000 schools. ClassKlap has been dominant in the affordable private schools segment, with an intent to personalise learning for children. The combined entity is expected to have a reach of 18,000 schools with a sales team of more than 200 members, said the statement.

“This (acquisition) will not just drive economies of scale, it will also enhance the traditional channel of servicing schools by introducing hybrid solutions. We are better placed now to deliver personalised solutions to students, aiding their overall development through integrated curricular and co-curricular solutions – one of the major mandates of NEP (National Education Policy) 2020,” said Amit Kapoor, cofounder, Eupheus Learning.

ClassKlap cofounders Varun Kumar and Naveen Mandava said in a statement, “With this integration, ClassKlap can unlock greater potential in the premium school segment. Moreover, with our personalisation technology and learning analytics focus, our combined ability to transform classroom learning using student data can be massively scaled up.”

Founded in June 2017,
Eupheus Learning raised $10 million earlier this month in a Series C funding round led by Lightrock India, a global private equity platform. It plans to use the proceeds to scale up the business by expanding its product portfolio and entering new markets, and pursue acquisitions. It has raised about $20 million so far.
