‘Eternals’ trailer starring Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Angeline Jolie, Salma Hayek FINALLY reveals ‘Avengers: Endgame’ connection – WATCH – Times of India
Marvel Studios has debuted the visually stunning final trailer of their highly anticipated film ‘Eternals’, directed by Academy Award–winner Chloé Zhao.
Unlike the teaser that tip-toed around the plot of the film, this new trailer does not hold back. The epic story, spanning thousands of years, sees a group of immortal beings forced out of the shadows to reunite against mankind’s oldest enemy – The Deviants. However, 7 days is all they have to save the planet and the human race that they have come to love.
The trailer does not waste any time in revealing the film’s connection to the events of ‘Avengers: Endgame’. It starts off with Salma Hayek’s character Ajak explaining, “Five years ago Thanos erased half of the population of the universe. But the people of this planet brought everyone back with a snap of a finger. The sudden return of the population provided the necessary energy for the emergence to begin.”
Does this mean, Tony Stark and the Avengers actually brought on the end of the world by reversing Thanos’ snap?
The trailer also gives fans a first look at the characters in action while demonstrating their powers. While we see Gemma Chan’s Sersi using her powers to manipulate non-sentient matter, it is Richard Madden’s character of Ikaris who takes centre stage firing off beams of light from his eyes.
Angelina Jolie’s Thena is also seen in action, using her powers to manifest weapons out of thin air.
The cast also features Lauren Ridloff as the super-fast Makkari, Brian Tyree Henry as the intelligent inventor Phastos, Salma Hayek as the wise and spiritual leader Ajak, Lia McHugh as the eternally young, old-soul Sprite, Don Lee as the powerful Gilgamesh and Barry Keoghan as aloof loner Druig with the power to manipulate people’s thoughts.
We also get our first look at the Deviants and the Celestials. The trailer hints at the Celestials playing a role in ‘instructing’ the Eternals not to interfere in any conflicts through human history, “unless Deviants were involved.”
Apart from the story, the over the top visuals, the trailer also has its quips that ensure the film will be unlike any Marvel movie we have seen so far.
‘Eternals’ arrives in theatres on November 5.
