The film directed by Oscar-winner Chloe Zhao raked in the big bucks despite stiff competition from two big-ticket Indian films. According to the latest reports, the film opened with an impressive gross collection of Rs 8.75 crore.
According to reports, the film that was released across 1400 screens in the country, earned Rs 7.35 crore nett and earned the remaining Rs 1.40 crore from the various other dubbed versions.
The film that sets the ball rolling for Phase 4 of the MCU, released in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. It, however, was only released in a select few theatres and still fewer screens owing to competition from Akshay Kumar’s ‘Sooryavanshi’ and the Rajinikanth starrer ‘Annaatthe’.
According to the early estimates, the film earned about Rs 2 crore from advance bookings. Thanks to the great fan-following in India, good word of mouth and great reviews, the film’s gross shot past the Rs 8 crore mark that many Bollywood film releases post-pandemic struggled to achieve.
Reports also state that the film was able to achieve these big numbers despite the 50% theatre occupancy rate in parts of the country, including the state of Maharashtra.
‘Eternals’ features an ensemble cast of Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, Don Lee, Lauren Ridloff, Kumail Nanjiani, Lia McHugh, Brian Tyree Henry, Barry Keoghan and Kit Harington. It tells the story of an alien race with superhuman powers living on Earth in secret and helping shape the course of humanity for over 7,000 years.
