Erik ten Hag arrives at Carrington for his first day of pre-season as Manchester United’s flops return from their summer holidays… with NO new signings and just 41 days to work miracles on the pitch
- Erik ten Hag’s new Manchester United era begins on his first official day as boss
Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United era is officially underway as the new manager has arrived for his first day at Carrington.
Dutch boss ten Hag arrived on Monday at 8am at the training ground, driven by a chauffeur, with his players reporting for pre-season training.
Ten Hag was announced as the new United manager in April, replacing interim Ralf Rangnick, who has left the club.
He began preparations for his role in May but will now undertake training for the first time with his Red Devils players.
And newly appointed assistant coach Steve McClaren was also pictured pulling up at Carrington, 21 years after leaving his role as Sir Alex Ferguson’s No 2 at Old Trafford.

Several first-team stars will not be in attendance after playing in June’s Nations League international matches.
But despite a sizeable number of absentees still enjoying their holidays, there will still be 15 senior players turning up for their first season under ten Hag.
He will have plenty of work to do, given they finished sixth in the Premier League last season, 13 points off the Champions League places.
The Red Devils narrowly pipped West Ham to the second Europa League qualifying spot, just about missing out on the ignominy of the third-tier Europa Conference League.
More to follow.
