Gareth Southgate led an exuberant and harmonious England camp in training on Monday, as the players who didn’t start against Senegal began to prepare for their huge quarter-final against France this weekend.
The England manager was without his trusted forward Raheem Sterling, who flew home ahead of the last-16 clash to be with his family after burglars raided his £6million mansion.
Callum Wilson also did not join England’s other non-starters at training on Monday due to a minor muscle strain.

His Three Lions side convincingly beat Senegal 3-0 in the last-16 of the World Cup on Sunday
The Three Lions cruised into the last eight with a convincing 3-0 win against Senegal on Sunday, thanks to goals from Jordan Henderson, Harry Kane and Bukayo Saka.
Marcus Rashford, who many tipped to start against Senegal after his match-winning performance versus Wales, was pictured grinning from ear to ear alongside fellow squad player Conor Coady.
Mason Mount was seen in high spirits despite losing his starting spot to Henderson against Wales and Senegal, as Eric Dier and Kalvin Phillips shared a handshake whilst smiling.
Southgate, who was beaming in almost every training photograph thanks to Sunday’s impressive victory, had a handful of cheerful interactions with Jack Grealish, who came on as a substitute once again against Senegal.

The squad players performed rondos and other possession-based drills whilst in high spirits
Jack Grealish and Southgate were seen grinning whilst interacting with each other in training
The substitutes performed rondo drills midway through the session in a bid to practise their possession-keeping and ball retention, skills that will be vital against Didier Deschamps’ side at the weekend.
Meanwhile, England’s starters worked inside the following day at their Al Wakrah Sports Complex base, where the rest of the group worked outside with Southgate and his coaches.
England are set to have a day off on Tuesday before preparations ramp up ahead of Saturday’s World Cup quarter-final against reigning champions France.
