Her look comprised a cropped white tank top, high-waisted brown cargo trousers by Scanlan Theodore, black oval-frame shades, and a beige Nappa leather Miu Miu top handle bag. The standout element of the model’s look, however, was the addition of black and white checkered Vans slip-on shoes.
Originally known as Style #98, the Vans slip-on quickly became a must-have in the budding skate and BMX culture of late ’70s Southern California. Introduced in 1977, it offered a practical footwear choice for durability-conscious extreme sports enthusiasts. Fast forward to the Noughties, and the slip-on style became closely associated with the emo and scene music movements – particularly in its now iconic checkerboard pattern.
