Elon Musk confirms Twitter’s blue, grey, gold check marks to launch on December 2 – Times of India
Musk said in a tweet, “Holding off relaunch of Blue Verified until there is high confidence of stopping impersonation.” He also suggested that Twitter may go for different coloured checks as well. “Will probably use different colour check for organisations than individuals,” he added in the tweet.
Blue, grey, gold check marks coming to Twitter
Now, Musk has confirmed an all-new verification process is rolling out on December 2. “Sorry for the delay, we’re tentatively launching Verified on Friday next week,” he said in a tweet.
Musk also mentioned that different coloured check-marks will be rolled out. “Gold check for companies, grey check for government, blue for individuals (celebrity or not),” he said in the same tweet. Further, he also said that “all verified accounts will be manually authenticated before check activates.” Musk is aware that this will take time, which is why he said, “painful, but necessary.
He further elaborated on how the blue tick will actually work. “All verified individual humans will have same blue check, as boundary of what constitutes “notable” is otherwise too subjective. Individuals can have secondary tiny logo showing they belong to an org if verified as such by that org,” he said in a tweet. A longer explanation is coming “next week”, said Musk.
It’s still not clear how much Twitter Verified will actually end up costing in different parts of the world. In the US, it is certain that the subscription service — along with the verified account tag — will cost $8. We can expect some more clarity on it in the next few days. However, do keep in mind that Musk has added the “tentatively” caveat, so it might just not happen on December 2.
