Eli Apple stuffs Tyreek Hill in a locker after AFC Championship
After the Cincinnati Bengals defeated the Kansas City Chiefs, cornerback Eli Apple decided to take a shot at Tyreek Hill.
The Cincinnati Bengals are heading to Super Bowl 56 by way of their 27-24 overtime victory over the Kansas City Chiefs, clinching their first AFC championship since the 1988 season. Cincinnati accomplished this thanks to a tremendous second-half comeback by the offense and tremendous effort by the defense to stifle the Chiefs offense. It seemed the momentum shifted after the Bengals stuffed wide receiver Tyreek Hill on the final play of the first half, as Kansas City went for a touchdown instead of a field goal.
Cornerback Eli Apple was the person responsible for stopping Hill ahead of the goal line, allowing the game to head into halftime. After the win, Apple decided to take a victory lap on Twitter at the expense of Hill, rewteeting a video of the play and calling the Chiefs wideout “a baby.”

Hill responded to Apple less than 10 minutes later, telling him to “hit [his] line.”
Apple, the 2016 10th-overall pick by the New York Giants, sure did have himself an eventful game. From stopping Hill short of scoring a touchdown, to almost hauling in an interception off quarterback Patrick Mahomes in overtime. Speaking of, Apple shared his thoughts on that near-interception, saying he “got too excited.”
The Bengals overcame an 11-point deficit in the second half to take a late 24-21 lead. Even though the Chiefs did tie things up and won the coin toss, Mahomes threw an interception to Vonn Bell on the play after Apple’s drop, allowing Evan McPherson to kick the game-winning field goal.
In the game, Apple recorded seven combined tackles, six of which were solo tackles. Hill managed to catch 7-of-10 targets for 78 yards and a touchdown.
Apple is heading to the Super Bowl for the first time in his career, and he is spending some of his time celebrating on Twitter.
