Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid capped off an amazing season by officially winning the Art Ross Trophy as the NHL’s top points scorer and the Maurice ‘Rocket’ Richard Trophy as the league’s top goal scorer.
It’s the first time in his career that McDavid clinched the ‘Rocket’ Richard Trophy – doing so with 64 goals to his name.
He finished three goals clear of his next closest competitor – Boston’s David Pastrnak, who had 61 goals.
McDavid is no stranger to the Art Ross Trophy – having won the honor five times in his career already.
This is also McDavid’s third season in a row that he won the league’s points title – grabbing 153 points in total.

His next closest competition for the Art Ross was fellow Oiler Leon Draisaitl – who had 128 points this season, a whole 25 points behind McDavid.
By winning both trophies, McDavid is the first player to capture the goal scoring and point scoring titles in the same season since Alex Ovechkin did it in the 2007-08 season.
McDavid is also the first person to put up over 150 points in a season to win the Art Ross since Mario Lemieux did it with the Pittsburgh Penguins back in the 1995-96 season.
With 153 points, McDavid put up the 13th best point scoring season in NHL history. It’s the best points scoring season in the history of the league by someone not named Mario Lemieux or Wayne Gretzky.
Edmonton finished second in the Western Conference’s Pacific Division. They take on the Los Angeles Kings starting Monday, April 17.
