Eddie Hearn wants to make Joe Cordina v O’Shaquie Foster | Boxing News
JOE CORDINA could face American opposition in his next fight.
The Welsh super-featherweight was involved in a fight of the year contender against Shavkatdzhon Rakhimov on April 22.
A bruising and gruelling encounter ended with Cordina’s hand raised in front of a raucous Cardiff crowd. With a belt around his waist for his efforts the 31-year-old could have another if his promoter Eddie Hearn gets his way.
Recent social media activity has seen Cordina, and O’Shaquie Foster enjoy a Twitter spar creating speculation that the two may fight.
Speaking on the Matchroom YouTube channel Hearn said he is very interested in making it a reality.
“We’re talking to O’Shaquie Foster’s team,” he said.
“He’s a hell of a fighter. We talk about great fights. Joe Cordina against O’Shaquie Foster unification [is an] unbelievable fight. And if Joe wants to go straight into that I’m up for it.
“We’ll see if O’Shaquie Foster doesn’t out price himself. He’ll get what we believe that fight is worth. That’s a tough fight for both. Incredible fight for boxing. If those guys wanna unify straight off the bat, more than happy to make it happen.”
Foster won his own world super-featherweight strap in February beating Rey Vargas on points in San Antonio. The 29-year-old is currently a free agent.
