Eagles move to 9-1 with 17-16 comeback win over Colts, as Jalen Hurts runs in the winning touchdown to give Jeff Saturday his first loss as Indianapolis interim coach
The Eagles moved to 9-1 in dramatic fashion on Sunday with a late comeback against the Colts, as Jalen Hurts ran untouched into the Indianapolis endzone with just 1:20 remaining to give Philly the eventual win.
Philadelphia never led in the game before that point, as the Colts kept the visitors’ offense in check and took the lead with an early Jonathan Taylor touchdown.
The Eagles trailed by as many as 10 early in the third quarter after a 36-yard Chase McLaughlin field goal, but the Eagles gained control of the contest from that point and outscored their visitors 13-3.
Jalen Hurts ran in for a seven-yard touchdown with less than 90 seconds left for the win
Hurts’ lone passing touchdown of the day to Quez Watskins cut the Colts’ deficit to just three early in the fourth quarter before his eventual scamper into the endzone.
Hurts’ running was a big factor for the Eagles on the day, as he ran 16 times for 86 yards.
It was his most rushing attempts in a game since Week 4.
Interim coach Jeff Saturday was handed his first loss with the deflating defeat
Meanwhile, DeVonta Smith led the Eagles receivers with 78 yards, while Matt Ryan tossed 213 yards for the Colts.
With the win, the Eagles expanded their NFC East lead to two games, as the now 7-3 Giants fell 31-18 to the Lions.
The Colts fell to 4-6-1 in the defeat, giving interim coach Jeff Saturday his first loss.
