EA delays the next Need for Speed to December, three-second footage leaked – Times of India
Another earlier report stated that the game is expected to include “anime” elements and is likely to be a ‘little more colourful’ than the previous titles. Moreover, the report also claims that the game is reportedly targeting a new generation of Need for Speed fans and audiences. The developer may also simplify the upgrade systems for a younger audience.
Why EA delayed Need for Speed
As per the report, a new entry for the racing series was expected to arrive in 2021. However, the game was delayed for a year as developer Criterion was assisting DICE with the development of Battlefield 2042.
Meanwhile, the shooter title didn’t do well with the critics and the developers of the game have spent the last 10 months in an attempt to rebuild it into something that fans will appreciate. The report suggests that the developers have encountered “varying degrees of success” while developing Battlefield 2042.
Nevertheless, Criterion is back to develop the upcoming Need for Speed game and new details have already started to trickle out.
Need for Speed Unbound: Three-second video leaked
The report even mentions that a three-second video of the upcoming game has also been leaked online. The tiny footage from the game shows a blue car launching itself through the air as “animated flairs” like — wings, a skull and blue flames seemed to appear around the vehicle, the report notes. After that, the car crashes into a wall which causes a distorted image for a brief moment, the report adds.
When will EA officially announce the game
As discussed earlier, EA is expected to launch the upcoming Need for Speed game in 2022 and the publisher hasn’t even properly introduced the new title, with only four months left in this year.
The report states that some fans expected EA to unveil the game at the recently concluded Gamescom 2022, but that didn’t happen.
The report explains that EA might be positioning the upcoming Need for Speed as its “big holiday game release,” however, the lack of marketing suggests otherwise.
