Dua Lipa and Emma Raducanu Talk High Heels and Lost Loves in a Rousing Game of ‘Agree to Disagree’
Gracing the cover of this month’s issue of Vogue, Lipa is in the midst of a punishing global tour for her album Future Nostalgia. Since her hit single “New Rules” topped the charts in 2017, she has flourished into one of the most compelling performers of her generation.
As they giggle and debate over the prompts, both women seem right at home on the playful, futuristic set of the French mineral water’s “Drink True” campaign, bathed in ombré pink. Wearing slouchy cargo pants and a slinky top, Lipa is the spitting image of a 2000s pop star (is there any better kind?), her swaggering ensemble—heightened by layered chains, blue eyeshadow, and acrylic talons—recalling the countless paparazzi shots of Britney Spears, Christina Agulara, and Jennifer Lopez in similar getups. Neat and sporty, Raducanu appears in all white with a crisp Oxford shirt over a T-shirt and Nike shorts. “I think I’ve worn heels under five times in my life,” Raducanu says with a laugh. “I think I could play tennis better in high heels,” Lipa quips.
The pair’s answers reveal the charming differences in their personalities. While Lipa muses on lost love and late nights, Raducanu telegraphs a straight-edged optimism. The banter resembles that between siblings, with Lipa assuming the role of the affectionate (and slightly rebellious) older sister; when the conversation veers to romance and Raducanu admits that she has “zero experience,” Lipa responds with a cackle: “Call me—I’ll let you know when shit hits the fan.”
Still, the two Brits share an incredible drive and natural talent. Together, their chemistry is infectious—and their already towering achievements are just the beginning.
