According to news agency PTI, some DU colleges has rolled out a set of guidelines ahead of PM Modi’s live telecast today including compulsory attendance for students and teachers, no black dresses and suspension of classes between 10 am to 12 noon.
A set of guidelines issued by Hindu College charge Meenu Srivastava read, “The presence of all students is mandatory during the live streaming of the event. The entry to college should be done by the beginning of the first period, that is, 8:50 am to 9 am in order to avoid any traffic diversion or disruptions later in the DU campus,”
Meanwhile, Zakir Hussain College mandated its staff members and newly appointed teachers to be present at the multipurpose hall, University of Delhi for the valedictory function.
However, many other colleges have clarified that there is no attendance for the valedictory function and they have only requested students and faculty to attend the event. DU administration has also clarified that they have not made attendance compulsory and even arranged for a live telecast of the event for those who cannot watch it physically.
Delhi University was established on May 1, 1922 and it has expanded to include 86 departments, 90 colleges and over 6 lakh students in the last hundred years.
