Dr. Jill Biden Will Attend the Preview of “In America: An Anthology of Fashion”
Long before the red carpet starts on the first Monday in May, members of the press gather in the Metropolitan Museum of Art to preview the annual exhibition. On Monday, there will be a special guest and speaker in attendance to get a first look at “In America: An Anthology of Fashion.” Dr. Jill Biden, First Lady of the United States, will attend the unveiling of the exhibition ahead of the annual gala, and deliver remarks to the crowd.
Diana M. Montalvo, a Library and Collections intern at The Costume Institute, will introduce the first lady ahead of her brief speech. “It is an exceptional honor and a privilege to welcome the First Lady of the United States Dr. Jill Biden to The Metropolitan Museum of Art,” says Daniel H. Weiss, the president and CEO of the Met. “We look forward to recognizing together the powerful ways in which art can teach us about our past, connect us to the present, and inspire a vision for the future.”
Following the remarks program, Dr. Biden will tour the exhibit with The Met’s interns; Andrew Bolton, the Wendy Yu Curator in Charge of The Costume Institute; and Sylvia Yount, the Lawrence A. Fleischman Curator in Charge of The American Wing. The exhibition will open to the public on Saturday, May 7.
