Don 3, starring Ranveer Singh, was reportedly supposed to be announced today. Here’s why that did not happen | Hindi Movie News – Times of India

After a long wait, producer Ritesh Sidhwani recently confirmed that the third installment of action-thriller Don is finally on the cards. While director Farhan Akhtar is currently working on the film’s script, it was confirmed that SRK won’t be a part of Don 3.

Later, multiple reports confirmed that Ranveer Singh has been roped in to play the titular character in Don 3. Not only that, the announcement video of the same was supposed to be dropped today, on Ranveer’s birthday.

However, according to an entertainment portal source, things changed the last minute. The source added that Ranveer had strategically planned to drop the trailer of Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani a few days before his birthday, leaving the date open for Don 3’s announcement. However, Telugu movieSalaar Part 1 – Ceasefire, starring Prabhas and Prithviraj Sukumaran announced its teaser today and the team thought it might not be a good idea to make the announcement on Don 3 as of now, hence the entire plan was put on hold.
While there is no clarity on the new announcement date, the source adds that it might be done in August if Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani succeeds at the BO.
Earlier, it was reported that the announcement video was showcased to various industry insiders, who went gaga over the concept and loved Ranveer as the new Don.

The first Don released in 2006 and the second installment came out in 2011 with SRK and Priyanka Chopra reprising their characters. Both the films were directed by Farhan Akhtar.
