Dominik Szoboszlai misses Liverpool’s pre-season friendly against Greuther Furth on Monday after rolling his ankle in training.

The Hungarian is thought to have only picked up a minor injury, but he has been left out of Jurgen Klopp’s plans for the match, predominantly as a precaution, with the Premier League season less than three weeks away.

While sharing the team news for Monday’s friendly, which kicks off at 1PM local time (12PM UK time), Liverpool confirmed: ‘Dominik Szoboszlai misses out as a precaution after picking up a minor knock in training.’

Speaking ahead of kick-off, Klopp added: ‘He rolled his ankle slightly in training. If today was a Premier League game then he could play, but we take no risks.’

Elsewhere in the team, new signing Argentina midfielder Alexis Mac Allister starts for Klopp’s side.

Liverpool face the Bundesliga 2 side as part of their ongoing preparations for the new season, which begins away to Chelsea on August 13.

In the first pre-season game of their trip to Germany, Liverpool beat Karlsruher 4-2, with their goals coming courtesy of Darwin Nunez, Cody Gakpo and a late brace from Diogo Jota to seal the victory.

After facing Greuther Furth, Liverpool jet out to Singapore for further friendly matches against Leicester City and Bayern Munich.

Liverpool announced that they had signed Szoboszlai on a five-year contract on July 2, after triggering the Hungarian’s £60m transfer clause at RB Leipzig.

Klopp has confirmed to the We Are Liverpool podcast that the club are not done in the transfer market, with new players likely to come in, although Jordan Henderson and Fabinho may leave.
