Dolphins’ Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle make history in comeback win

Dolphins receivers Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle came together to make some history on Sunday, becoming the first pair of teammates in the Super Bowl era to each post 170+ yards and 2+ touchdowns in the same game.

In only his second game with the Dolphins, Hill erupted for 190 yards and two touchdowns on 11 receptions, while Waddle finished with 171 yards and two touchdowns on 11 receptions as well.

Hill scored the game-tying 60-yard touchdown to complete Miami’s 21-point comeback. Minutes later, with the Dolphins trailing 38-35, Waddle caught the game-winning score.

Tua Tagovailoa made some history of his own in the win, tying the Dolphins record for most touchdown passes in a game with six.

The offensive display today is precisely what Mike McDaniel had in mind when Miami traded for Hill in March. Hill and Waddle accounted for 61.1 percent of Tagovailoa’s completions and a whopping 64 percent of his targets.

Hill raised some eyebrows when he called Tagovailoa “the most accurate quarterback in the NFL” at the start of training camp, but he’s flashed an immediate connection with the third-year signal caller. Hill now has 284 yards through two games.
