Dolphins rusher Bradley Chubb vows to ‘take over games more’ after sluggish start in Miami
‘I want to be more dominant’: Dolphins rusher Bradley Chubb vows to ‘take over games more’ after sluggish start in Miami, starting with the Packers on Christmas Day
Dolphins edge rusher Bradley Chubb knows there’s opportunities for improvement as Miami pushes to make the playoffs.
The outside linebacker who was acquired from the Denver Broncos earlier this year said he wants to help the team take their play ‘to the next level’ in the coming weeks.
That starts with Sunday’s game against the Green Bay Packers – an important matchup that could set them on the right track to clinching a Wild Card spot.
Dolphins edge rusher Bradley Chubb wants Miami’s defense to take it to ‘the next level’
It’s been a cold start in Miami for Chubb, who doesn’t have as many sacks or tackles as before
‘I want to be more dominant,’ Chubb said Thursday, according to the Dolphins’ team transcript.
‘I want to be taking over games more, and that’s kind of the reason they brought me here is to do that… to help this defense take it to the next level.
‘I feel like yeah, we took it up a notch, but there’s a whole ‘nother level we could take it to, and I want to be the catalyst for that.’
Miami’s defense has been struggling as a whole, with the 10th worst total defense in the NFL
In the first six games of Chubb’s season with Denver, the North Carolina State product totaled 24 total tackles, 13 solo tackles, and 5.5 sacks. However, in the six games he’s played with Miami, he only managed 12 total tackles, five solo tackles, and 2.5 sacks.
Miami’s defense as a whole has been struggling this season – owning the tenth worst total defense, the sixth worst pass defense, and sit tied for the sixth worst scoring defense in the NFL. They have had success against the run, in the top-ten best rush defenses in the league.
This weekends opponents – the Packers – have the 12th best rushing offense, but are in the bottom half of the league for passing offense. That game kicks off at 1:00pm local time.
