Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa back in concussion protocol for the second time this season

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has entered concussion protocol for the second time this season. This is according to Miami coach Mike McDaniel straight off the heels of the Dolphins’ 26-20 home loss to the Green Bay Packers.

McDaniel told the media on Monday that Tagovailoa told team doctors on Monday that he was having concussion symptoms and he was even displaying those symptoms on Monday.

The third-year quarterback played the full game against Green Bay and there were no issues brought up or noticed at the time of the broadcast. McDaniel told the media that the Dolphins are currently unsure when Tagovailoa suffered the concussion.

“I just want guys to really be done right by, by the information we have, the science and all the medical expertise that we rely on,” McDaniel said, per ESPN “I care very deeply about each and every player, I take that very serious. I just want him to get healthy and have peace of mind in that regard. … It’s about the human being and making sure he’s squared away.”

Even casual NFL fans will remember the first time Tagovailoa went on concussion protocol. He was briefly hospitalized in Week 4 after he was flung down on his head during a Thursday Night Football matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals.

Tagovailoa sized up immediately after the incident and had to be carted off the field and immediately taken by ambulance to a local hospital.

The Miami quarterback is coming off a game that saw him throw three interceptions in the second half against the Packers, which played a role in the loss — which was Miami’s fourth in a row.
