Dillon Brooks says nobody would ‘know who Draymond Green is’ if he played for another NBA team

Grizzlies’ Dillon Brooks slams Draymond Green, saying nobody would ‘know who he is’ if he didn’t play for defending champion Golden State: ‘I don’t like anything to do with the Warriors’

Memphis Grizzlies forward Dillon Brooks has dismissed comparisons to  Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green, before expressing his dislike for the four-time champion.

Brooks has become a fan favorite in Memphis for his smash-mouth approach to the hardcourt, harrying and harassing opposing players, not too dissimilarly to what Green has made a living of in the Bay Area.

Though, don’t tell Brooks that. ‘I don’t like Draymond at all,’ he told ESPN.

‘I just don’t like Golden State. I don’t like anything to do with them. Draymond talks a lot. Gets away with a lot, too.’

Brooks also questioned how pivotal Green is, inferring some of the Warriors more talented players may have elevated him to his NBA celebrity status.

‘His game is cool — with Golden State — but if you put him anywhere else, you’re not going to know who Draymond is.

‘He plays with heart, plays hard, knows the ins and outs of their defense. I guess that’s why they like him over there.’

A rivalry between both the Grizzlies and Warriors has been brewing since the reigning champions knocked Memphis out of the playoffs in a six-game second round Western Conference series.

The two also found themselves in a fiery game on Christmas Day, with the Warriors picking up six technical fouls.

Most famously including a Klay Thompson tech after taunting Brooks after he had fallen on the ground.

There will be another chapter in the rivalry within the week as Golden State play at Memphis on March 9.

A further nine days later on March 18, the Warriors return to Tennessee for the final meeting of the two in the NBA regular season.
