‘It’s like pulling teeth!’ Dillian Whyte’s lawyer casts doubt on Tyson Fury fight after revealing he hasn’t spoken to Gypsy King promoter Frank Warren for a MONTH as bitter deal-making continues

Dillian Whyte’s lawyer has cast doubt on the boxer’s fight against Tyson Fury next month after a blistering attack on Gypsy King promoter Frank Warren, saying they have not spoken for a month.

Fury and Whyte are set to go head-to-head for the Gypsy King’s WBC title on April 23 at Wembley Stadium, but the negotiation’s in the run-up to the fight have been beset by bickering and disagreements.

Now Jeffrey Benz, Whyte’s lawyer and representative, has revealed that the sum total of his negotiations with Warren, less than a month away from the fight, has been a three-minute chat.

‘We haven’t spoken to Frank (Warren) or George (Warren) for a month,’ Benz told talkSPORT,

‘I had a total of a three-minute conversation with Frank, he called me. Everything we’ve asked for is normal, standard, commercial; it’s not outlandish or outrageous.

‘(Their behaviour is) like nothing I’ve ever seen. We don’t have a single ticket for Dillian, his entourage, his mum or anybody else.’

The fight has been mired in controversy since the beginning, with fears that Whyte may not sign as a result of the dispute over the purse split, which favours his opponent by 80-20.

However, Whyte decided to put pen to paper on the deadline day in February to confirm the box office bout.

But he then refused to attend a last-minute press conference with Fury because he didn’t get a proper invitation to the Wembley event.

Further speculation has been rife that both camps have disagreed over image rights and ticket allocations, but Benz sought to shed light on some of these claims.

‘Contrary to what (Frank) Warren said, we didn’t ask for complimentary tickets equal to the total number of ringside seats; we asked for 25 ringside seats. It’s normal, it’s what we give to Dillian’s opponents,’ Benz said.

‘We have been given nothing. We’ve asked for credentials for his security team and video team. They’ve given us the bare minimum.

‘We spent weeks asking them to tell us the size of the ring. Imagine if Crystal Palace travel to Chelsea and they don’t know the size of the pitch?

‘It’s been stupid games, it was like pulling tooth and nail. (They’re) trying to stack the deck in favour of Fury.’

Earlier this week promoter Eddie Hearn added fuel to the fire over Whyte and Fury’s fight, claiming he was ‘so glad I’m not involved’ given the issues both sides are having.
