DigiYatra app launched: Airport names, how to download and more – Times of India

The government has launched DigiYatra app that aims to provide a Biometric Enabled Seamless Travel (BEST) experience based on Facial Recognition System to passengers at various airports in the country. In simple terms it aims to provide contactless identification of passengers at key check points like; airport entry, security check and boarding gate. In the first phase, DigiYatra app will be available at Delhi, Bengaluru and Varanasi airports. More airports will be added in the coming months. DigiYatra is an initiative of the ministry of civil aviation and Digi Yatra Foundation.
What are the other airports getting the DigiYatra app support?
DigiYatra will be launched at four more airports — Hyderabad, Pune, Vijayawada and Kolkata — by March next year.
Will DigiYatra work for both domestic and international passengers?
The app will be available for passengers taking domestic flights only.

Do all airlines support the DigiYatra app?
No. At present, Air India, Vistara and IndiGo are part of DigiYatra.
How to download the DigiYatra app and will it work on all phones?
The DigiYatra app is available on both Google Play Store (for Android phones) and App Store (for iPhones).
How to register for the DigiYatra app?
To register for service, a passenger has to register their details on the DigiYatra app using Aadhaar-based validation and a self image capture. In the next step, the boarding pass has to be scanned and the credentials are shared with the airport.
At the airport e-gate, the passenger has to first scan the bar coded boarding pass and the facial recognition system installed at the e-gate will validate the passenger’s identity and travel document. Once this process is done, the passenger can enter the airport through the e-gate. The passenger will have to follow the normal procedure to clear the security and board the aircraft.
