The newlyweds will soon be seen together on screen in the first time in Ayan Mukerji’s ‘Brahmastra’. However, did you know the couple was supposed to make their Bollywood debut together in a Sanjay Leela Bhansali film?

Yes, you read that right! When the filmmaker was working on his film, ‘Balika Vadhu’, he wanted to cast Alia and Ranbir in the lead roles. Ranbir was 20 years old at the time and Alia was about 12 years old. The couple had met on the sets for the first time and had also done a photoshoot together for the film. According to reports, when Bhansali had asked Alia to lean on Ranbir’s shoulder, she couldn’t stop blushing and was unable to do the scene.

In 2017, Ranbir had also recalled the same incident and said, “Not many people know that Alia and I were actually going to debut together when Sanjay Ji was making a film called ‘Balika Vadhu’. We had also done a photoshoot together and since then, I have been a fan of hers.”

Meanwhile, their upcoming film, ‘Brahmastra’ will also star Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna Akkineni and Mouni Roy in key roles. It will hit the theatres on September 9, 2022.
