Did you know Madhuri Dixit was the first choice for THIS Manisha Koirala and Anil Kapoor starrer? | Hindi Movie News – Times of India

Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s ‘1942: A Love Story’, starring Manisha Koirala and Anil Kapoor is one of the most loved films we have in Bollywood. The film remains a landmark in many ways. While it was the last film that music composer RD Burman composed for, it was also the first Bollywood movie to utilise Dolby SR sound.

However, did you know that Manisha and Anil were not the first choice for the film? Yes, you read that right! Vidhu Vinod Chopra wanted to cast Aamir Khan and Madhuri Dixitas he believed the duo would be able to recreate the magic of their film ‘Dil’, released just two years ago.

However, both Aamir and Madhuri could not allot dates to Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s film. After Madhuri declined the offer, the director remembered Manisha’s performance in the audition and decided to give her a chance. Anil Kapoor was roped in for the role initially envisioned for Aamir Khan.
In an earlier interview, Vidhu Vinod Chopra had revealed that the famous song ‘Ek Ladki ho Dekha Toh Aisa Laga’ was written, keeping Madhuri Dixit in mind.
The film also starred Jackie Shroff in a key role. The film narrates the tale of the son of a wealthy high ranking Indian official working for the British falling in love with the daughter of a freedom fighter.
