Did you know Aamir Khan and Juhi Chawla were once shooed away by Mumbai’s taxi drivers for THIS? – Times of India

Juhi Chawla recently opened up about the time when Aamir Khan and she were trying to promote their blockbuster film, ‘Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak’ in 1988.

On Kapil Sharma’s comedy chat show, Juhi revealed that during those times Mumbai’s taxis would carry film’s posters and just before the release of their film, Aamir and she went from taxi to taxi requesting them to carry their film’s posters. However, she added that it wasn’t easy for them because people barely knew them and they were not ready to give space to a bunch of newcomers. While some asked questions about the cast of the film, others just shooed them away.

Elaborating further, Juhi also revealed that Aamir would stand outside theatres to see how the audience was accepting the movie. They soon realised that people actually loved their film.

In an earlier interview with ETimes, Juhi had spoken about her first reaction when she first saw Aamir on the sets of ‘QSQT’. She said, “I did not see him first on the sets of ‘Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak’ (QSQT). He was actually assigned the job of making me learn my lines in the auditions of ‘QSQT’. I was literally being tutored by him as to how I should enact my scenes for the screen test. We had a screen test at producer Nasir Hussain sahab’s house, in his garden. We were given some scenes from Nasir sahab’s previous films to enact. I saw Aamir for the first time there. At that point, I didn’t even know that he was the hero of the film. I didn’t know if I was the heroine of the film yet.”

On the work front, she will next be seen in ‘Sharmaji Namkeen’. She was shooting opposite Rishi Kapoor before his demise. The makers of the film roped in Paresh Rawal to fill in his place while keeping the parts already shot by Kapoor intact.
