During Sunday night’s Los Angeles Rams-Tennessee Titans game, there was confusion as to whether cornerback Jalen Ramsey should have gotten ejected.
The Los Angeles Rams once again received a primetime game, as they hosted the Tennessee Titans in their first game without star running back Derrick Henry, who is sidelined indefinitely due to a foot injury. Yet, it was the Titans who dominated in the first half, as they held an early 21-3 lead over the NFC West squad.
In the game, there was some confusion regarding the status of Rams cornerback Jalen Ramsey. After receiving a 15-yard penalty for taunting in the second quarter, many were wondering if he should have been ejected from the game. Referee Brad Rogers called Ramsey for an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty following his interception and shove of Titans wide receiver A.J. Brown in the first quarter.
Even though Rogers did call the star cornerback for unsportsmanlike conduct, he later announced that it was changed to a personal foul.
Should Jalen Ramsey have been ejected from Sunday’s Rams-Titans game?
Had it stayed an unsportsmanlike penalty, Ramsey would have been automatically ejected from the game following his taunting penalty. But that was not the case since his first penalty of the contest was switched to unnecessary roughness.
Despite Rogers correcting himself, there has yet to be an official explanation by NFL officiating.
Los Angeles struggled in the first half, as Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill scored two touchdowns, one a pass to tight end Geoff Swaim and the other on a one-yard scramble. Add those to a pick-six by safety Kevin Byard, and you get the Titans taking the 21-3 halftime lead.
