Dia Mirza reveals her son Avyaan had to go through multiple surgeries shortly after his birth – Times of India

Dia Mirza recently opened up about the life-threatening experience she went through during giving birth to her son Avyaan Azaad Rekhi.

In an interview with a news portal, Dia recalled that during the fifth month of her pregnancy, she had to undergo appendix surgery and it was probably that surgery that led to some bacterial infection in her body. Her placenta was haemorrhaging and the doctor said they had to pull her baby out otherwise she would have gone into sepsis. It was life-threatening for both of them and within 36 hours of birth, the baby had to go through surgery.

Elaborating further, Dia added that three and a half months after Avyaan was born, he had to go through a second surgery. He was in the NICU right through that time. She wasn’t even allowed to hold him till two and a half months had passed after he was born, the actress told Bollywood Hungama.

Dia also recalled that this happened during the second wave of the pandemic. Avyaan was so tiny and so fragile and it was Covid times so there were all kinds of other conditions and regulations that she had to follow. The actress revealed that she was allowed to see her baby only twice a week. Dia also added that she always believed that he would not leave her and he would fight and survive.

On the work front, she will next be seen in ‘Dhak Dhak’ which also stars Ratna Pathak Shah, Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanjana Sanghi in lead roles.
