NBA team Detroit Pistons have reportedly opened an investigation into an allegation of workplace misconduct against assistant general manager Rob Murphy.
Murphy has been in his post following promotion in June and the claim involves a former female employee, report ESPN.
The report adds that Murphy, who worked for a decade as head coach of Eastern Michigan, has been placed on leave amid the probe.
Detroit-born Murphy has reportedly been on leave for around week after management acted following an allegation and opened an investigation.
Prior to his current role, he joined as Pistons’ G League president and general manager in spring 2021.
Detroit Pistons opened their NBA season with 113-109 victory over Orlando Magic Wednesday
His time at Eastern Michigan was part of his 20 years as a college coach. He spent four years at school Crockett Tech and worked as an assistant at Kent State and Syracuse between 2002 and 2004.
The latest investigation in the NBA comes after Boston Celtics suspended coach Ime Udoka for all of the upcoming season on Thursday over ‘multiple’ unspecified violations of team rules.
Reports say the 45-year-old had an improper, but consensual relationship with a female member of the team’s staff.
In the team statement naming assistant Joe Mazzulla as interim coach, Boston said Udoka’s future would be determined ‘at a later date.’
