Deshaun Watson trade changed everything for Browns, Jarvis Landry

Jarvis Landry’s agent tells Cleveland.com that the wide receiver and the Browns have “mutual interest” in a reunion.

This offseason, the Cleveland Browns allowed wide receiver Jarvis Landry to seek a trade, before ultimately releasing him from his contract. Despite that happening earlier in the month, Landry is still a free agent, and he appears open to play anywhere, including his former team.

Landry’s agent, Roosevelt Barnes, told Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot that the wide receiver and the Browns have “mutual interest” in a reunion. Barnes notes that the acquisition of Deshaun Watson has played a role in the decision.

“When you’re a receiver, you always want to play with a great quarterback like Deshaun,’’ Barnes said, per Cabot, h/t Sports Illustrated. “Jarvis has always had a special place in his heart for Cleveland, but Deshaun being there makes it more intriguing.”

Jarvis Landry, Browns have ‘mutual interest’ in reunion, per agent

The Browns, who were reportedly ruled out of the running for Watson, eventually reached an agreement with the quarterback and the Houston Texans on a trade. In exchange for multiple high draft picks, Cleveland signed Watson to a five-year, $230 million fully guaranteed contract.

Even though Watson was not criminally charged for allegations of sexual assault and harassment by a Texas grand jury. Despite that, he still faces 22 civil lawsuits.

A recent report from ProFootballTalk’s Mike Florio indicated that Landry was looking for a new contract with an annual salary of around $20 million.

Landry is coming off of a 2021 season where he recorded 52 receptions for 570 yards and two touchdowns on 87 targets through 12 games.

It will remain to be seen if the Browns and Landry can agree to terms on a contract for a reunion in 2022.
