Wayne Rooney has called for a quick resolution to Derby’s takeover saga after US businessman Chris Kirchner watched their late defeat by Queens Park Rangers.

‘I have shown my commitment to the club and Chris Kirchner has shown his,’ said Rooney, whose side took the lead through Tom Lawrence, only for goals from Chris Willock and Andre Gray – in the last minute – to seal the points for QPR, who go third.
‘I know it’s difficult and there are obstacles to get over but for everyone’s sake I hope it can be done as soon as possible.
‘It would make me job easier as I could start to put things in place for the future.
‘I have spoken to Chris Kirchner and his commitment is there. It is difficult for the administrators and there are a few options on the table but for the sake of this club we need it done.’
This result leaves Derby, who have a single point, 19 points adrift of safety, while QPR are seven points below second-placed Bournemouth.
All three goals were of supreme quality. Lawrence found the top corner with a ferocious strike to give Derby the lead at half-time, before Willock’s produced a crisp finish and Gray a superb volley.
Rangers boss Mark Warburton said: ‘We conceded a soft goal and needed to raise our intensity but we looked a good team in the second half and deserved to win.’
