Delhi: Max temperature to reach 42 degrees Celsius

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday predicted that the temperature in the national capital would be around 42 degrees Celsius, while strong winds of 25-35 kmph are expected during the day. Meanwhile, the weather department also informed that the minimum temperature in Delhi on Sunday was recorded at 25.2 degrees Celsius, which is three degrees lower than the season’s average.

On Saturday, Delhi witnessed a rise in temperatures with the maximum temperature recorded at 41.8 degrees Celsius while the minimum temperature was recorded at 26.6 degrees Celsius. This is the first time since May 23 that the temperature crossed the 40 degrees Celsius mark.

The IMD has predicted clear skies and dry weather for the next few days. While there is no heat wave forecast for the coming week, Delhi may experience heat wave-like conditions at isolated places.

Delhi witnessed a sudden change of weather on Sunday morning giving the residents a respite from the hot and humid weather conditions of the past few days.

Meanwhile, Regional Weather Forecasting Centre (RWFC) has also predicted light-intensity rains along with gusty winds at speeds of 30-40 km/hour. In a tweet on Sunday, RWFC wrote, “Thunderstorm with light intensity rain and gusty winds with speed of 30-40 Km/h would occur over and adjoining areas of many places of Delhi ( Narela, Palam, Safdarjung, Vasant Kunj, IGNOU, Ayanagar) and Narwana, Rajaund, Jind, Gohana, Gannaur, Sonipat,”

According to IMD, the national capital had recorded its coolest May in 41 years with the minimum temperatures witnessed nine degrees below normal at 15.8 degrees Celsius.
