  • Dele Alli is reportedly returning to Everton this weekend for medical assessment
  • The former England midfielder has had a rotten time on loan at Besiktas
  • The Turkish club wanted to end his loan, and he hasn’t played since February

Dele Alli is to return to Everton this weekend after picking up an injury in Turkey, according to reports.

The 26-year-old was on loan from the Toffees to Besiktas to try and regain some of his former form.

However, the former England midfielder scored just twice in 13 games for the club, and has not featured for Besiktas since February 26.

After being sidelined by the team, who wanted to end Alli’s loan deal in January, it now seems that the midfielder’s time in Turkey is officially up.

Sky Sports report that Alli is to return to Everton this weekend, to review an injury he picked up in Turkey.

Alli will be assessed by medical staff at the Toffees, but it is not known what the injury is, or how long he will be based in the UK for.

However, the midfielder will not be eligible to feature for Sean Dyche’s team this season, as Everton battle to avoid the drop.

Alli played 37 games for England, but has struggled with ecent form, moving from Spurs to Everton in January 2022, before being taken on loan by Besiktas last summer.

However, things did not go well in Turkey either, with Alli failing to make a positive impact at the Super Lig side. Besiktas manager Senol Gunes claiming that Alli did not deserve to play because he was not applying himself.

Last month Karl Robinson, Alli’s former manager at MK Dons, admitted that the midfielder could be a handful, but said he was simply misunderstood, and could return to the top level of football.
