Deep Money: Artistes these days want quick fame, they are not musicians but social media stars

Social media is a reality singer Deep Money attests to, but he feels that a lot of artistes these days are misusing it. The Dope Shope singer feels that rather than chasing good melodies, artistes are chasing overnight stardom.

“Sabko jaldbaazi padi hai. These artistes want quick fame, they want a quick hit and then they vanish, they are nowhere to be found. Everyone wants to be a social media star, but there is no permanence or longevity to their careers. They are not musicians. To have a long career is a big thing these days,” he shares.

Noting how the obsession about number of views online and social media following is doing a disservice to music, Deep Money says, “A lot of these songs get 100 million views, 200 million views but we don’t even often know the names of these artistes. Social media following se artiste ki value nahi barhti. I may have lesser number followers than others but I know all of them are genuine.”

The singer also feels that the real test is live shows. “Asli pehchaan ek artiste ki live stage pe hoti hai. It is about how they perform and sing. That is the most prominent thing in music. But sadly music these days has become like the share market, whoever gets more views log uspe paisa lagate hai,” he laments.

Deep Money, who also lent his voice to Heeriye (Race 3) has just released his Haryanvi sing, Cool Down, is very happy with the way his career has shaped up.

“I have been around for a decade. I have been consistent, collaborated with Bohemia, Badshah, Yo Yo Honey Singh, Raftaar, Kanika Kapoor and so many others. I have a great body of work and that was only possible because am capable. I have sung for Salman Khan. People recognise my voice and that is my satisfaction. An artiste spends his whole life to establish his identity and many fail to do so. I am lucky I could do it,” he concludes.
