Gujarat in IPL 2023 opener
Defending champions Gujarat Titans won their IPL 2023 opener by 5 wickets with four balls to spare. Batting first, Ruturaj Gaikwad starred in CSK’s inning scoring 92 runs from 50 balls which took CSK to 178/7. Chasing 179, Shubman Gill, Vijay Shankar and Wriddhiman Saha were among the runs to get to the total.

Delhi Capitals lost their first match of the season by 50 runs against Lucknow Super Giants. Kyle Mayers starred for LSG with the bat followed by Nicholas Pooran’s cameo to take them to 193 runs. In reply, only David Warner really got going with Mark Wood taking a fifer.

On the other hand, Gujarat Titans were comfortable and defiant in their win on the opening night of the competition – beating Chennai Super Kings by chasing down a 180 run target. To make things even more rewarding, they did so without Kane Williamson who has been ruled out of the tournament.
Tuesday’s match between DC and GT will be the first time Gujarat travel to a competitor’s home stadium as the IPL returned to home-and-away format this season.
