Danny Murphy slams Tottenham striker’s reaction to Abdoulaye Doucoure shoving him in the face

‘For Kane to go down like this is EMBARRASSING’: Danny Murphy slams Tottenham striker’s reaction to Abdoulaye Doucoure shoving him in the face – but brands the Everton midfielder an ‘IDIOT’ and says he deserved to be sent off

  • Everton midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure was shown a red card for lashing out
  • Doucoure lost his temper as he shoved Tottenham captain Harry Kane in the face
  • Kane made the most of it as he theatrically dropped to the Goodison Park turf

Danny Murphy has blasted Harry Kane’s theatrical reaction to being shoved in the face by Everton midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure as ’embarrassing’.

The Toffees midfielder was shown a straight red card for shoving Kane in the face as the Spurs captain theatrically hit the Goodison Park turf.

The 29-year-old who became England’s all-time record goalscorer during the international break then clapped his hands to the face and dropped to the floor where he then began to roll around.

Kane was the initial antagonist as he pushed Everton forward Demarai Gray onto the floor, clattered into his legs, and then grabbed the shirt of Doucoure.

Commentating on talkSPORT, Murphy labelled Kane’s reaction as ’embarrasing’, saying: ‘Not enough to send him on the floor, he’s embarrassing himself. Why’s he gone over like that stitching someone up? Doucoure would’ve been sent off anyway.

‘A little flick to the face does not send you the ground like you’ve just been punched… but Doucoure’s an idiot.

‘He knows the rules, he’s let his team down,’ he added.

‘For Kane to go down like this is embarrassing… if my kids played like that I’d apologise and probably need to sit in a dark room with a cold flannel on my face,’ said Murphy.

The incident occurred just over 10 minutes into the second-half with the scoreline level as Everton attempted to secure a victory that would see them climb out of the Premier League relegation zone.

Players raced to the scene in-front of the dugout as chaos ensured while Everton manager Sean Dyche held onto Doucoure and tried to downplay his midfielder’s hot-headed moment.

Referee David Coote took his time to let fiery tempers calm down but was left with no choice but to brandish red card that meant Doucoure was left with the short walk down the tunnel.

Kane was shown a yellow card for his initial involvement that prompted the overreaction from the Everton midfielder.
