Danilho Doekhi opens up on Rangers links as he addresses Vitesse future

DANILHO DOEKHI has opened up on his future amid links with a move to Rangers.

The Vitesse centre-back, 23, has claimed he’s aware of interest from Ibrox but insisted he’s not expecting to leave his club this month.

Doekhi is content remaining in the Netherlands until the summer, but admitted the draw of a “big club” could be difficult to turn down.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s return to Rangers as manager has only served to increase speculation over a move for Doekhi. But the player insists no offers have been made.

Speaking to Omroep Gederland, he said of Rangers’ interest: “They follow me, but there are several clubs.”

He then added: “When a big club comes up with a good plan, it’s hard to say no. So it also depends. Especially in this world you have to take everything into account. You know that things can change very quickly.

“I simply assume that I will still be playing at Vitesse for the next six months.”

Further explaining his short-term future, he said: “The fans don’t have to worry about me leaving yet.

“But there are certainly things at play that you sometimes philosophise about yourself.

“To my knowledge, there has not yet been a club that has reported to Vitesse. And I myself am not fond of a winter transfer, but again of a departure in the summer period.”
