Ricciardo was on fire all weekend and produced a sensational drive to win his first race since the Monaco Grand Prix in 2018.

After struggling in the first half of the season, Ricciardo turned in his best performance with McLaren to secure the team’s first race win in nine years.

His teammate Lando Norris finished second to cap off a remarkable race for McLaren.

It was a memorable weekend for Ricciardo and the British-based team and F1 fans are set to be treated to behind-the-scenes access to the race at Monza.

Ricciardo has revealed the camera crew for Netflix’s hit show Drive to Survive was following McLaren for the entirety of the Italian Grand Prix.

Earlier this year, Netflix confirmed it was filming a fourth season of the documentary series, which tracks the constant drama and polarising figures of the F1 paddock.

Already a popular driver on the grid, Ricciardo has been a central figure in the first three seasons of Drive to Survive and his bubbly personality has attracted a whole legion of fans.

The camera crew follows a different team at each race weekend, hoping that some drama will unfold in the garage while the cameras are rolling.

Ricciardo confirmed in an incredible coincidence, Netflix was invited into the McLaren garage on the weekend of his epic victory in Italy.

“What was really cool is that — so Netflix will follow a team each weekend,” he explained on the Pardon My Take podcast.

”So they’re obviously getting snippets of everything, but they’ll then be embedded with a team kind of each race weekend and that will cycle through and change.

“And Monza, that will be us. So yes, that was like the perfect kind of setting.”

Ricciardo said it was a case of perfect timing McLaren’s most successful race in years will be featured heavily in an episode of the series.

“Yeah, it was cool,” he said. “I mean not to make it about me but I think just for them to be there and to capture all of the emotion from everyone that weekend and to really be behind the scenes.

“It was the first win for McLaren in nine years but it was the first 1-2 in like 11 or 12 years.
“So there’s just a lot of like feel-good moments from that weekend that I’m sure they captured.”

In the third season of Drive to Survive, Ricciardo famously made a bet with his Renault team principal Cyril Abiteboul, who said he would get a tattoo if his driver managed a podium finish in 2020.

The 32-year-old finished third at races in Germany and Italy and his then-boss said he would be true to his word and get a tattoo.

It’s unclear what behind-the-scenes insights Netflix will uncover from the Italian Grand Prix, but F1 fans will relish the chance to relive Ricciardo’s droughtbreaking victory in all its glory.

Season four of Drive to Survive will be released early next year just before the 2022 F1 season gets underway.
