Daler Mehndi gets arrested in 2003 human trafficking case; Patiala court sentences 2 years of imprisonment – Times of India
The singer was convicted in the 2003 human trafficking case, and today waws the review hearting of it after the 2018 sentence in the same court. Earlier too he was given 2-years imprisonment and this time as well the court has upheld the same sentence. However, when he got his sentence in 2018, he was later let out on bail.
Back in 2013, an FIR was registered at the Sardar Patiala police station, and the singer was booked under sections 406, 420, 120B, 465, 468, and 471 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Indian Passport Act. In the same year, his now deceased brother Shamsher Singh with two others were also convicted in the human trafficking case by the Patiala Police.
According to the reports, Daler made a promise to a number of people that he can send them abroad (especially to the USA and Canada) illegally. He said they can go as a part of his dance troop for foreign shows. And in return, he would demand a heavy amount of money.
Further, reports also suggest that the Police have been able to find ample evidence against Daler and seized a few documents when they raided his Canaught Place office in Delhi.
