‘I’ve seen more of Katy Perry tonight than I have of Nathan Cleary,’ one user said, tongue in cheek.

Another commented: ‘Katy Perry and her Menulog ad has officially ruined State of Origin.’

One fan even joked that ‘watching Katy Perry dance and sing as a block of cheese every ad break forced me to take up heroin’.

The pop star, who was dressed in a series of bright and eccentric outfits, sang about different foods throughout the loud and vibrant clip.

Menulog’s efforts for game two were the complete opposite, with Sailor shown brushing his teeth and even sleeping.

The footage was prefaced with captions reading: ‘Dear Origin fans, seemed we overcooked it in Game 1. Whoops. Please enjoy 16 seconds of Wendell Sailor brushing his teeth instead.’

But the change wasn’t enough for one footy fan who tweeted, ‘This Wendell Sailor ad might be the worst thing I’ve ever seen.’

Menulog responded by tweeting, ‘Geez, can’t win with you lot, can we? We wanted to do something a bit more chill for game 2. Big Dell is a chill guy. Makes sense to us.’
