Curtain comes down on 5th Khelo India Youth Games in Bhopal

The Fifth Khelo India Youth Games 2022 concluded on Saturday. Maharashtra secured the top position in the medal tally with 161 medals including 56 gold, 55 silver and 50 bronze medals.
Haryana grabbed second position by winning 128 medals including 41 gold, 32 silver and 55 bronze medals. Host Madhya Pradesh remained at third place with 96 medals including 39 gold, 30 silver and 27 bronze medals. Rajasthan and Delhi have been in the fourth and fifth position respectively.
In the closing ceremony organised at the boat club, Bhopal, Chief Guest and Union Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Anurag Thakur said that collective efforts will have to be made for the development of sports. He said that the Central and State Governments, Corporate Houses and other organizations will also have to come forward. Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for increasing the sports budget and the budget of Khelo India, he asked the players to just keep playing hard, the rest is the concern of the government.
Addressing the sportspersons on this occasion, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan congratulated players for their outstanding performance.
Before the closing ceremony, the winners were felicitated and taken to the venue in a specially designed bus. This bus was named as Champions.
In the fifth edition of the Khelo India Youth Games in Madhya Pradesh, around 6 thousand athletes from 36 States and Union Territories competed in 27 different sports disciplines.
